John Shapley Dear Melvin:
My name is John Shapley, I'm a jazz saxophonist and I've just relocated to the south Atlanta area (Tyrone/Peachtree City) from Miami. I just wanted to introduce myself and see if there's any room here for me to play. I'm interested in gigging, any casuals, shows. I play all the saxophones, flute and clarinet and am also looking for any adjunct teaching work if you may need me. Eventually I'd like to re-establish my band "The John Shapley Octet" where I have some of the finest small band arrangements around (some are mine, some Rob Lussier's from the University of Miami/Berkley, and almost the complete Dave Pell Octet library-great guitar charts). I also have a lot of original transcribed Duke Ellington/Billy Stray horn charts-I'd love to do the "Essence of Ellington" tour here that I once did in S. Florida. if not maybe book a few concerts or whatever. It would be great to hear back from you. Feel free to check the link to my website below-I've got two jazz CD's out and you can sample the sound clips if you would like. Thanks for your time and I hope to get to play with you sometime in the future.
John
